To save an X video on iPhone, tap Share under the post in the X app and choose Copy link, paste the link into the box above in Safari and tap Download, then tap a quality such as MP4 720p. Safari saves the MP4 in the Files app under Downloads; open it there and tap Share → Save Video to add it to Photos.
Save an X video on iPhone
- Copy the post link. In the X app, tap the Share icon under the post and choose Copy link.
- Paste it in Safari. Open BirdGrab in Safari, tap Paste (or long-press the box and choose Paste) and tap Download.
- Pick a quality. Tap an MP4 button – the first one is the sharpest copy X keeps. While the video loads, the button shows “Please wait…”; if it then says “Tap again to save”, tap it once more. If Safari asks whether to download the file, tap Download.
- Move it to Photos. Open the Files app → Downloads, tap the video, then Share → Save Video.
Where Safari puts the video
iPhone and iPad do not save browser downloads straight to Photos. Safari keeps them in the Downloads folder of the Files app – by default iCloud Drive → Downloads. Recent downloads are usually also listed behind a download icon in Safari's address bar.
To keep downloads on the phone only, open Settings → Apps → Safari → Downloads (Settings → Safari → Downloads on older iOS) and choose On My iPhone.

Chrome, Firefox and in-app browsers
Chrome, Firefox and Edge for iPhone download the file too: the button starts a normal download there. They usually keep it in their own folder in the Files app, for example On My iPhone → Chrome; the exact place depends on the browser and its version. The last step is the same: open the video in Files and tap Share → Save Video.
If you opened the link inside the X app or another app, you may be in its built-in browser, and many of these cannot save files. When BirdGrab recognises such a browser, the button loads the video first (“Please wait…”) and then opens your phone's share sheet – choose Save Video. Without a share sheet, a “Download not starting?” panel appears with a Copy link button: paste the link into Safari and the page opens with your post. If nothing happens at all, use the app's option to open the page in Safari.
Which quality to pick
X keeps each video in several sizes, all MP4 files with sound that play on every iPhone. The buttons are named after the picture size, for example 720p or 360p, and the first one is the largest X has.
Take the first button for watching and editing, and a smaller one when you want to send the clip in a chat or save space. A post with several videos gets one block of buttons per video.

iPhone questions
I downloaded the video but it's not in Photos. Where is it?
In the Files app under Downloads. Open it there and tap Share → Save Video to copy it to Photos.
Do I need the X app?
No. You can also open the post on x.com in Safari, copy the address from the address bar and paste it here.
Why does the button say “Tap again to save”?
iPhone only lets a page save a file shortly after a tap. When a large video needs more than a few seconds to load, the button changes to “Tap again to save” – tap it once more and the file is saved.
Can I save videos from protected accounts?
No. Only posts that are publicly visible on X can be downloaded.
Does it work on iPad?
Yes, the steps are the same in Safari on iPad.
