Why is the GIF saved as MP4?
X converts every GIF into a small silent MP4 video when it is posted; that MP4 is what X plays. BirdGrab gives you that file, so nothing is lost.
Can I get a real .gif file?
Yes. In BirdGrab, tap GIF beside GIF as MP4 to download a real .gif. Conversion supports clips up to 30 seconds; the output is no wider or taller than 480 px.
Does the GIF have sound?
